Georgetown Conference on Human Rights Mike Rappaport

Orin Kerr mentions that he is on a panel at a Georgetown Conference on Human Rights.  He writes that the panel is “on Domestic Surveillance in Wartime

This is, sadly, typical of Georgetown and of the academy.  Want to debate the President’s NSA program?  Get three people who believe it is illegal, and top it off with a moderator who agrees.  What will they talk about?

I have been involved in Federalist Society events over the years, and organized several Federalist Society conferences in the 1980s.  We always had political balance, not only because you should, but because it is boring and not very productive not to.  Of course, if these things are religious events, where you denounce evil, you certainly don’t want a “devils advocate.”

Really, guys.  It is time to take diversity seriously.  I know it can be a little unseemly to dirty your hands with moral retrogrades, but you can take a shower after the conference.
