Estate of former Yale Law School assistant dean may have to pay up to famous Playmate Tom Smith

I had not realized that J. Howard Marshall II, the oil man who at the ripe but still hopeful age of 89 married topless dancer Anna Nicole Smith, who was 26 at the time, was a fomer member of the faculty of the Yale Law School.  The Supreme Court has ruled that Ms. Smith (no relation to this blogger) can in fact sue Marshall’s estate in federal court.  I will have to at least glance at the opinion.   I would say that if Ms. Smith does end up with 475 million or so, she can count on getting some letters from the dean of her late husband’s alma mater.  And really, it sounds like one of those rare cases could be made that she ought to throw a little cash New Haven way.  Yale launched young Marshall on his career, without which there would have been no stupendously weathly near-nonagerian to bedazzle.  I thought of linking here to the results of a Google Image search of Anna Nicole Smith, but it turns out they violate our blog’s strict policy against pornography.  However, if you want to know what old Marshall saw in his young wife, such a search will give you a clear idea very quickly.

I admit I am at a loss how this situation could be any more ironic and amusing than it already is.  Perhaps we should be grateful to the (unanimous, no less) court for allowing this litigation go on.  And what did the Ninth Circuit do to get slapped down again, so resoundingly?  Marshall’s heirs should consider getting into Zen in a serious way.  How else are you to deal with that much money being carted off in the most successful gold digging expedition in the long history of old age and lust?
