Psychochimp, Qu’est-ce que c’est? Tom Smith
Chimps attack humans, and it’s really nasty when they do. Our little primate cousins are not exactly what they are portrayed in the movies. But note, these chimps have had their little natures corrupted. Had they grown up in the wild, they would have shared and sung the Internationale.
And also this on the animals are nasty front. General fear of viruses and the like is one thing, besides poverty, that keeps LWJ and I from going to Africa. We would love to see the wildlife, but are generally fearful of the microscopic variety. Back when she was a medical resident in DC, people from Africa would sometimes show up in the ER and die horribly. I would ask why, and she would say something like, “some sort of hemmoragic fever, we couldn’t identify it; possibly not identified yet.” Yikes. So you mean they have viruses there that kill people and don’t even have names? You betcha. On the other hand, this did not stop Brits from lounging around in Kenya, drinking G&T’s and generally having an admirably good time. So maybe someday.
