Libertarian Positions on the War Mike Rappaport

Ilya Somin at the Conspiracy has an interesting post seeking to explain the split among libertarians on the war.   I am  something of a moderate libertarian  (although I suppose some “hard core” libertarians  would not include me within the definition).  In my case, I think three things mainly explain my position on the war.  First, I am what Somin refers to as a maximizing libertarian — a consequentialist — and therefore I accept some loss of lives for the greater good.  Somin does not mention my second point: One’s position may turn on how you believe the war will affect other nations.  Clearly, if one believes, as I do, that it is possible to establish a relatively free Iraq and that such an Iraq would influence the entire region, then one is more likely to favor the war.  Third,
