The Case for More Police Mike Rappaport

Over at Marginal Revolution, Alex Tabarrok makes the case for doubling the number of police: it is a bargain: “We could double the number of police in the United States and the costsof crime would fall by substantially more than the cost of police.”  Count me in on this.  While Alex implicitly suggests that it would be worth raising taxes to double the number, I would, of course, prefer to fund it by cutting spending.
