Bush and Pelosi Mike Rappaport
Nancy Pelosi has promised to pass a bill at the beginning of the next session requiring the government to negotiate with drug companies over prescription drug prices. This, of course, will result in price controls, something that the Bush Administration promised would not happen under its prescription drug program. Will Bush veto Pelosi’s bill? He should, I hope he will, but I can imagine him not vetoing it.
If he does sign the bill, that will move him closer to the inner circles of the Hell of Presidents. If he cuts and runs in Iraq as well, which is also possible (although hopely not yet likely, despite the nomination of Gates), then that moves him a couple of cirles closer to the center, where Woodrow Wilson and Lyndon Johnson reside.
