Irish tax authorities can’t find what they’re looking for Tom Smith

U2’s Bono is fighting for more aid to Africa, but U2 is moving its business domicile to the Netherlands to avoid high Irish taxation. 

Back when I was a firm slave, I became a bit of an expert on moving one’s domicile to the Kingdom of the Netherlands.  It is indeed the tax domicile of many very sophisticated businesses.  The international tax law was a bit over my head, but many wonderful things could be done with tax treaties, and the wonderful fact that Curacao and Aruba are actually part of the Kingdom, and have rigorous financial secrecy laws.  Bono’s money may start out in Holland, but end up in sunnier climes, where it can sun itself in peace.
