Movie Recommendation: Children of MenMike Rappaport

Last night, I caught the new movie, Children of Men, a sci fi dystopia about a future where global infertility has resulted in a world without any children having been born for 18 years.   The movie, which was directed by the very talented Alfonso Cuaron,  was extremely powerful.  Its portrayal of a unhappy future, with social strife and terrorism, was all too vivid and scary.  There is a scene towards the end of the movie — I don’t want to give it away — where a battle stops in what seems like an entirely believable way that is simply unforgettable.  I know some people believe Cuaron mangled the book and one might object to some of the politics (although there were bad guys on all sides), but, not having read the book, I really enjoyed the movie.  Viewer reactions are quite positive on Rotten Tomatoes and other sites.
