Racism and the Generation GapMike Rappaport
Pericles at the Daily Kos has an interesting post on the Don Imus flap: Imus isn’t racist from the perspective of people who grew up when there was the radical racism of the 1940s-1960s, but his comment is racist based on more modern sensibilities. Pericles then talks about how his father and others in his town use to tell really racist jokes and all of them found them funny. I am sure Pericles feels very bad about all that, and maybe it is part of what drives him to be a leftist.
