Tear down this wall! Tom Smith

Twenty years ago today President Reagan spoke those immortal words at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin.  Now it is almost difficult to remember what the world was like then.  Most of my students were just little children then; then have no memory of the Cold War and all that went with it.  Appropriately, today a memorial was dedicated in Washington, a replica of the Goddess of Democracy statute that stood briefly in Tiannamen Square.  But it takes more than that to recapture a frame of mind.
