Ukraine uncovers children’s torture chamber set up by Putin’s troops | Daily Mail Online

‘We’ve come down here for a three-day mission to support the Office of the Prosecutor General (OPG), and specifically the team investigating conflict-related sexual violence,’ said Julian Elderfield, one of the legal advisers who took part in the Kherson visit that ran from Thursday to Saturday.

‘(It’s about) asking the right questions, pursuing unique or different lines of investigation that might otherwise not have been pursued by local investigators,’ he said.

More than 50,000 alleged incidents of international crimes have been reported by Ukraine’s prosecutor general since Russia’s full-scale invasion.

They include hundreds of potential cases of alleged war crimes, genocide and crimes of aggression, some of which could be escalated to overseas tribunals like the International Criminal Court (ICC) if they are deemed sufficiently serious.

In June, Ukraine held a preliminary hearing in its first trial of a Russian soldier charged with raping a Ukrainian woman during Russia’s invasion. The suspect was not in Ukrainian custody and was tried in absentia.

Ukraine’s special war crimes unit for conflict-related sexual violence continues to collect video and photographic evidence that could help them identify perpetrators for future prosecutions.

Whether Russian commanding officers are to blame, or subordinates who carry out their orders, is one of many thorny issues to be resolved in the future, local investigators said.

According to Peter Zeihan, the accusations regarding the torture of children in Kherson may lead to the US releasing Patriot missile defense systems to UAF. See the youtube above.

I don’t pretend to be objective about the defense of Ukraine. It’s my family now. I have a daughter — my son’s wife — and her parents to worry about now, if mostly only with thoughts and prayers. I would settle for driving the Russians out, much as I would be tempted just to kill them all.

If you like Tucker Carlson, even if you are generally against the neo-con empire — remember this: even the blind bird occasionally catches a worm. The US has lots of bad motives to be supporting the Ukrainians, but the Ukrainians still deserve our support. We may be doing the right thing for the wrong reasons, but it’s still the right thing. Their government may be corrupt, but it is not remotely the life destroying, evil orc unleashing nightmare that Putin has managed to construct. Most of the weapons we’re sending to UKR are surplus anyway. No, it’s not worth blowing up the world for, but neither can we allow Putin to cast his pall over all of Eastern Europe, which is obviously his plan. This might be our last such expedition, but it’s in a good cause at least. As to Christianity, Putin’s Russian Orthodox Church is an utterly corrupt branch of the old KGB, and its Ukrainian branch is no better. This is for people like Rod Dreher who apparently sees in Putin some sort of chance at the re-Christianization of Europe. No he isn’t. Ukraine has its own Orthodox church and Catholic church as well, which are kept very busy by burying Ukrainians who have died fighting off the invaders. But as I say, I’m not objective.
