The principle of democratic self-governance is obviously incompatible with that system, but so too is the sanity of individuals living inside of it. Americans who want to join in their country s civic life now find that the main way to participate is by following the trail of clues leaked by official sources while trying to solve elaborate, rigged puzzles about the nature of reality. It s no surprise the country is going nuts.
It’s true, and the latest is Tucker Carlson’s theory about Watergate — that it was an elaborate set up job to drive Nixon, our most popular president Tucker claimed, with some reason, out of office. Bob Woodward, cub Washington Post reporter, unbeknownst to me, was a CIA plant. Is all this really true? I have no idea, but Tucker managed to sow some doubts. Maybe our long national nightmare is *not* over, and we’ve been living inside of it all along?
