The Coming Gas Stove Culture War – WSJ

There really is a culture war coming over gas stoves, and everything else involving fossil fuels, because climate has become for the left a matter of core cultural identity. Progressives want to impose their values on the lifestyle of everyone else, including in the kitchen. If subsidies don t work, coercion follows. When they can t win the political debate, they resort to brute government force. They really are coming for your stove.

It really is an outrage. First they came for our washing machines, which are now super-expensive and don’t wash clothes very well. Then our dishwashers. We seem to have to buy a new one every five years or so, and put up with only cleanish dishes in the meantime. We don’t have a gas stove, but I wish we did. Our presumably new-fangled electric burners get way too hot, even when on the low settings, burning butter and warping pans. Even the fancy-schmancy pans that are not supposed to warp ever. Soon they’ll be telling us stick-free pans are bad for and will make our sons grow breasts or something — but I suppose that might be a good thing? My unscientific opinion is that all this rubbish and nonsense together will not make a particle of difference in climate change, nor help one poor little child with his/her/their asthma. On the upside, I suppose a lot of kitchen snobs with their superior Viking ranges will no longer be able to cook with gas.
