Supreme Court Rejects West Virginia s Emergency Request to Ban Transgender Girl From Girls Track Team – WSJ
According to her court papers, by fourth grade Becky socially transitioned to living and presenting as a girl, and does so with the full support of her family. She has been receiving puberty blockers and hormone therapy, so as to develop physiological characteristics consistent with hormonal puberty typical of girls, the papers say.
She hasn t been a standout on Bridgeport s team. Despite regularly finishing near the back of the pack, she loves to play, have fun with her friends, and try her best, the papers say.
In April 2021, citing concerns that transgender girls and women could dominate female competition categories, the West Virginia legislature passed the law restricting participation in public-school girls teams to students designated female at birth.
Becky s mother, Heather Jackson, filed suit, arguing that barring her daughter from the girls team violated the 14th Amendment s equal-protection clause and the federal law prohibiting sex discrimination in education, known as Title IX.
A federal judge in Charleston, W.Va., Joseph Goodwin, issued an order in January upholding the state law.

I’m not a doctor, but whenever I read these stories I can’t help but think about how this child, though she looks like a healthy girl now, has just set herself up, with the help of those who should have protected her, for a lifetime of medical and psychological problems, few of which have solutions and some of which we don’t even know about yet.
