Join FIRE in condemning Palm Beach Atlantic s Violation of a Professor s Academic Freedom

Palm Beach Atlantic University has egregiously violated a professor s academic freedom. PBA chose not to renew English professor Samuel Joeckel s contract because he included written works from Black authors and civil rights activists in his course material, which prompted one parent to accuse him of indoctrinating students.  

Sign our open letter to join us in condemning Palm Beach Atlantic s actions, which simultaneously violate Joeckel s rights and cast an impermissible chilling effect over other professors who may fear that teaching controversial material could jeopardize their jobs.
