So Russel Brand was (predictably) demonetized by YouTube HotAir
In case you somehow missed it, comedian and social activist Russel Brand has been accused of rape and sexual assault by four women. The sensational accusations were recently featured on British television and in two major UK newspapers. Brand preemptively put out a short video on Rumble denying all of the allegations, saying that all encounters he had with women were consensual, but the response to the claims was swift and harsh. Other women in the entertainment world have given statements about how everyone knew that Brand was sexually aggressive. The producers of his current standup comedy tour have suspended the rest of his appearances. And now YouTube has (again) demonetized Brand s main channel, which has more than six million subscribers. I think I’ll mostly just pretend this isn’t happening and it will go away. I’m not a huge Russel Brand fan, largely because I object to his wardrobe. He seems to mean well though. I read that we went through a wild oat sort of period before #metoo when men were awful but they’re somewhat better now, I guess? I doubt it all, frankly. But it does seem Big Media has decided to go after Russel not because of his decade old promiscuity (which is ok, now, right?) but because he has evolved into an anti-establishment figure, and we can’t have that. I hope he can just tough it out as Joe Rogan did.
