Adventure, true adventure, has grown inaccessible to children. They no longer know adventure and it shows. Long gone are the days when children were truly allowed to explore and adventure. The feeling of aimlessly roaming in the woods is no longer a common experience for children or teenagers. The spirit of adventure is becoming less existent as generations grow. The bond of adventure no longer builds community in the youth. Adventure into the unknown teaches children to think. It teaches them to assess their situation and find solutions to problems along the way. It also teaches them sense of direction and how to find their way. Without adventure, children lack development in these areas. Children who lack development in these areas become adults with incompetencies stemming from these lacks. This is a fixable issue. Fixing it could help change the trajectory of our civilization.
