AI doomerism comes back but it’s a power grab

Anthropic’s doomerism is just the latest excrescence of Effective Altruism’s (and the Biden administration’s) play to get control of AI. EA and the Bidenauts believe in government power, at least when they control it. They’re using fear to try to stampede people into a raft of AI safety regulation. Sacks and Frieberg are especially effective in pushing back on this ideology.
