San Diego County supervisors plan $40K taxpayer-funded European trip organized by high-profile consultant San Diego Union-Tribune
A pair of San Diego County supervisors are going on a taxpayer-funded junket to Austria that could cost as much as $40,000 through a company owned by a high-profile local housing consultant.
The proposed $40,000 trip to Vienna by Democrat Monica Montgomery Steppe and Republican Joel Anderson would give elected officials a first-hand look at the Central European country s renowned model of government-subsidized housing.
The supervisors would each have a $12,200 travel budget for the six-day program, with another $15,600 in county funds paying the organizer of the program, the San Diego-based Global Policy Leadership Academy, a company owned by consultant Jennifer LeSar.
Board policy requires it to sign off on international travel for its members, and supervisors backed the trip without extensive discussion on Tuesday.
Only Republican Supervisor Jim Desmond commented on the trip.
I don t think supervisors need to travel to Vienna to study housing, Desmond said, adding it was already known that California had to curb regulations to encourage more housing development.
The board s endorsement of the trip comes as the county inked a cost-cutting budget on Tuesday that slashes some spending and cuts dozens of vacant county jobs.

Hey! What about me! I could use a little Kulture fandango in Vienna town! I’ll even study how they’re grifting on housing in Hitler’s old stomping grounds. Maybe if Hitler had a nice condo back in the day we could have avoided WW2.
The sooner these losers are replaced by robots the better.
