Ok, so shoot me. I love the pooping in the house, smelly, jump up on your bed if they don’t regularly sleep in it sort of thing about them. Maybe you should rescue a pit bull or maybe not. Perhaps you can thereby reduce the total amount of suffering in the world but probably not. In any event, unless you believe in a God, no one will ever know one way or the other. But, here’s the thing. They are infinitely available and you will get so much out of it. Yes, you will probably do less well in your career and harbor several as yet unidentified-by=science parasites in your system, as it is known. But in return you will get the frankly uncritical love of a real, live advanced mammal, which is more than most people ever get, which is sad, and doesn’t bear thinking about. So, I commend to you, various San Diego pit bulls that need a “forever home” as they say, and would be, unless the pittie turns out to be some freak of longevity.
