Connecticut marks 300th birthday of Roger Sherman, not flashy but important founder – Hartford Courant
Q: Does Roger Sherman merit more attention than he has received?
A: Absolutely. He is among the most important but underappreciated founders. Among many other accomplishments, he served on the five-person committee that drafted the Declaration of Independence and played a key role in the Constitutional Convention. Sherman was the driving force behind the Connecticut Compromise (proportional representation in the House; equal representation in the Senate), and while serving in the House of Representatives he helped craft the Bill of Rights. Yet most Americans do not even recognize his name.

Maybe somebody should write a musical about him.
