Central Florida driver speeds over drawbridge as it opens, goes airborne – Orlando Sentinel
A Florida driver crashed through a traffic arm as a drawbridge was opening and sped over the gap, going briefly airborne, in an incident captured on video Monday.
The SUV was heading east toward the beach on the Main Street bridge in Daytona Beach at about 7:45 a.m., said Messod Bendayan, public information officer for the Daytona Beach Police Department.
The driver ignored signals and hit two traffic arms, both of which were in the down position.
Both traffic arms had to be replaced. Those repairs have been completed.
