For homeowners and renters lucky enough to have backyards, these outdoor spaces have become more important than ever in recent months. Since LWJ told me some 15 years ago that our yard looked like something out of a down-market trailer park (there are some nice ones), I have paid more attention to this sort of article. The expanses of dirt where once grass had grown have long been replaced with gravel and numerous succulents spring therefrom. Last spring, in early Covid panic, I put in a largish garden which grew spectacularly tasty and expensive tomatoes. The garden is sure to earn out its initial expense over the next 25 years or so. As the article suggests, we have an outdoor grilling space, though it is a Weber jury rigged into our propane tank; it does not have any custom stone work, which sounds costly. We do have outdoor furniture, purchased at Target, which is pricey. We do have an expensive outdoor dining set, but at 20 years old or so is showing its age, but then, aren’t we all.
