Memorial Day: Battle of Okinawa, April 1 – June 22, 1945

I found this footage of the 77th Infantry in Okinawa on youtube. The 77th was my father’s outfit. He was a lieutenant in the artillery, shooting 105 howitzers. The GIs can be seen shooting them about halfway through the clip. He saw active duty in the Battle of Okinawa from the beginning of the battle in April until the end in June.
