How China Corrupted the World Health Organization s Response to COVID-19 Reason.com

The World Health Organization (WHO) put out questionable guidance on how to deal with the coronavirus, it was slow to communicate the magnitude of the threat, and it whitewashed the Chinese government’s early handling of the crisis.

President Donald Trump, who put a hold on WHO funding yesterday, isn’t absolved of his own failures in confronting COVID-19. But there’s no doubt that the WHO’s response destroyed much of its credibility, damaged the field of public health, and failed to contain the pandemic.

The WHO must do some good work, I suppose, but their treatment of COVID-19 (including that stupid name)was beyond appalling. Everything about them seems to proclaim their entirely predictable interest as essentially a front organization for the CCP. Unfortunately, we’re probably heading into a time when we will have to be vigilant of any new bugs coming out of China. Their appetite for bats and proclivity to be sloppy in bio-labs will doubtless continue. It just lulls us into a false sense of security to have a world health organization that doesn’t represent the world’s interests and isn’t first of all concerned with health. We should just set up our own Team America Virus Killers or whatever and be done with it.
