Fiery multi-vehicle collision stalls traffic on I-15 at 163

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) A vehicle burst into flames during a multi-vehicle collision on highway 15 in San Diego Saturday night, causing authorities to shut down all lanes to traffic.

California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded to the collision that happened around 9:45 p.m. Saturday on Interstate 15 south, just north of the 163.

Caltrans reported just after 10 p.m. that all lanes were blocked due to the traffic collision.

According to CHP, at least four vehicles were involved in a collision after a vehicle reportedly rear-ended another vehicle that was rolling with its hazards on going around 50 mph. The force of the collision sent one of the vehicles into a highway divider wall, causing it to burst into flames.

At least one person was taken to the hospital.

Some lanes of I-15 south began reopening around 11:15 p.m., Caltrans said in an update. All lanes have since reopened to traffic.

I have observed the difference between drivers of the East Coast and drivers in SoCal is that East Coast drivers are actually mean and will not let you merge into traffic ahead of them for instance. SoCal drivers aren’t mean but they are extremely careless, and will for example drive along going 90 while they text their gf about what music they’re listening to rn. Probably equally deadly. No one seems to have been killed in this accident miraculously.
