1000-year-old Anglo Saxon remedy kills MRSA superbug that resists modern medicine | syracuse.com
The 9th century book is considered to be one of the earliest known medical textbooks. The recipe, used to treat infected eyelash follicles, or “styes,” goes like this:
“Take cropleek and garlic, of both equal quantities, pound them well together… take wine and bullocks gall, mix with the leek… let it stand nine days in the brass vessel…”
Astonishingly, the recipe worked well against Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, or MRSA, a superbug known to be resistant to modern day antibiotics.

They probably had some pretty gnarly bugs back then.
