Election Live Updates: Haley and Trump Attacks Get Personal Ahead of NH – The New York Times
As the Republican race in New Hampshire enters its final 48 hours, the hostilities between former President Donald J. Trump and former Gov. Nikki Haley of South Carolina have grown more intense than ever.
The former allies are effectively in a two-person race there, as Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida has largely looked past the state.
In her sharpest attacks yet, Ms. Haley upbraided Mr. Trump on Saturday for his dishonesty and his relationships with dictators. Mr. Trump lent fodder to that argument at an evening rally when he praised Prime Minister Viktor Orban of Hungary ( It s nice to have a strong man running your country ) and also repeated his argument that presidents should have full and total immunity from prosecution for anything they do in office.
Ms. Haley also questioned Mr. Trump s mental fitness after he confused her with the former Speaker Nancy Pelosi at a rally on Friday. During that same event, Mr. Trump dismissed Ms. Haley as lacking presidential timber, and on Saturday, several top elected officials from South Carolina appeared onstage with him a show of strength from Ms. Haley s home state intended to make her look isolated.
