Getting in Shape With Rucking Is Simple. Just Pack a Bag. – WSJ

Dr. Peter Attia, who specializes in longevity, largely frames his strength training around improving his ability to carry things. An avid rucker, he s gotten everyone from Lance Armstrong to Stanford neuroscientist Andrew Huberman on the rucking bandwagon.

Members of Schroder s club wear T-shirts that say, Rucking is Cardio for People Who Think Running Sucks.

Like running, walking with a loaded pack torches calories, but with less joint impact. According to data from the U.S. Army, a 180-pound soldier carrying 35 pounds while walking 3.7 miles at 15 minutes a mile burns 680 calories an hour.

Malaika Underwood jokes that she doesn t like running more than 500 feet at a time. She found rucking to be a great complement to her training with the U.S. women s national baseball team.

I couldn t believe something kids do every day going to school could be such a good workout, says Underwood, who lives in Atlantic Beach, Fla.
