Bans on Transition Care for Young People Spread Across U.S. – The New York Times

Ten states in the past three months have passed laws prohibiting what is known as gender-affirming care for young people, in a rapid effort by Republican lawmakers across the country.

The laws ban or significantly limit the use of puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones and transition surgery for people under 18. Last week, Indiana and Idaho became the most recent states to pass bans.

I’m not a doctor, but LWJ is and an endocrinologist to boot, and she’s horrified by “gender affirming care” for children. It seems to me the product more of politics than medicine. Maybe the surgeons should concentrate on transitioning dogs and cats until they figure out exactly what they’re doing. Of course, not sure how beasties consent to this sort of thing. But the same thing could be said of human children.
