TX DPS: Cops Could Have Been Shot If They Went After Gunman

A Texas Department of Public Safety official said responding officers were cautious as they entered Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas because they could ve been shot.

Nineteen children and two teachers were murdered after authorities say an 18-year-old male entered with a rifle 12 minutes after he crashed a car near campus.

At an absolute minimum, the TPS officers at the scene should be put on leave pending a further investigation of their role in the killing of the school children and teachers. News accounts give rise to the credible suspicion that they did not do their duty, which was to intervene immediately and attempt to save the children and teachers, but instead held back in order to be safe themselves from the gunman. This is similar to how we would handle the case of soldiers who displayed cowardice in the face of an enemy. If Governor Abbot does not act swiftly on this, he deserves whatever criticism he gets.
