Biden finally met with parents of Austin Tice after mom attends WHCA dinner HotAir

The real question is whether or not Biden was aware of Austin Tice s situation before Saturday night. It s pretty easy to think that Biden doesn t really know about a whole lot of what is going on these days. His mental acuity is easily questioned on any day ending with y. His team was able to secure a prisoner swap for the release of Trevor Reed recently, so that was a success to be touted. There is no clear indication that Biden had much to do with that, though, but he did finally meet with Trevor s parents after Jen Psaki was asked why Biden chose to not meet with them when he was in Texas. The Reeds showed up hoping to get Biden s attention but were told Biden didn t have time to spare. After that, they went to the White House and protested across the street to get attention. They eventually were allowed to meet with Biden. Maybe shaming this administration into action is the way to go.

Austin Tice has been held since 2012 and is believed to be in Syria. His parents have aggressively sought his release since then. The freelance journalist and Marine veteran was honored in April by Rice University s Baker Institute for Public Policy for his courage and service in reporting on Syria s civil war. He was a student at Georgetown University. The United States Government is offering a reward of up to $1 million for information leading directly to Austin s safe location, recovery, and return. His family resides in Houston.
