The West s biggest obstacle to accepting success, though, is that we have become accustomed over the past 20 years to think of our side as being stymied, ineffective, or incompetent. It is time to get beyond that, and consider the facts that we can see.
Eliot Cohen is a distinguished professor of strategy at one of the most famous universities in the US. But what I see is not Ukrainian victory, however, but rather the Russian army, air force and navy standing off at a safe distance and lobbing artillery, missiles and bombs into beautiful Ukrainian cities until there is nothing left but rubble and dead bodies. I hope to God I’m wrong, but I don’t see how.
