Judge attacking conservatives spotlights bias in court system | TheHill

Adelman s column takes irony to a level of virtual satire. While he chastises the Roberts Court for being anything but passive, Adelman has been anything but passive in expressing his political and ideological views in public. Such statements can conflict with the spirit, if not the letter, of the canons of judicial ethics. Canon One requires judges to uphold and promote the impartiality of the judiciary, and … avoid impropriety and the appearance of impropriety. Canon Three requires judges to conduct their personal and extrajudicial activities to minimize the risk of conflict with the obligations of judicial office. These rules include warnings not to engage in conduct inconsistent with the independence, integrity, or impartiality of the judiciary.
