Three accused of trying to snatch children at Cave Junction park

CAVE JUNCTION, Ore.  Deputies with the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office arrested three men on Sunday after they allegedly tried to lure children into their vehicle at Jubilee Park.

Shortly before 4:30 a.m., deputies responded to reports of a disturbance at the park, with callers advising that several men had tried to lure children into their vehicle.

One man left the scene and headed towards downtown Cave Junction, but several people followed him from a distance and were able to report his location to deputies. People at the park grabbed and held onto two other men until deputies could take them into custody.

“After a full investigation Deputies were advised the subjects were offering the minor money and candy to get into a vehicle with them,” the Sheriff’s Office said. “When the child refused, they commanded the child to get into the vehicle.”

The suspects were identified as 45-year-old Samuel Ralph Cottrell Jr., 32-year-old Justin Brian Taylor, and 28-year-old Manuel Valerio Barboza.
