Why Big Tech s purge of President Trump will only make everything worse
Political polarization and hyperpartisanship are tearing America apart. Big Tech s purge of President Trump and other right-wing voices will only make this problem worse.
YouTube is the latest tech giant to ban or suspend the president. On Wednesday, it announced the removal of new content from Trump s account, which has more than 2 million subscribers. The company also explained that it will be locking comments on Trump s videos, suspending the president for at least seven days, and issuing him a warning for inciting violence.

Alphabet, which owns Google, is a public company in name only. You can buy what might as well be non-voting stock if you like, but the control shares are owned by a tiny little group that includes Larry Page (I don’t recall if he’s married, but I believe he is), and Serge Brin, who was married, got divorced, and then eventually remarried to an attractive but predatory-looking, youngish hottie, his employee. So they basically go their merry way, introducing into the American Body Politic the virus (if one can use that word)of divisive but riveting content, which involves surprisingly deep aspects of our personality at the same time as it deeply pisses us off. Except that I would hope to be able to blame all of this on (what seems to me) the morally deficient Left, perhaps it is truly to say, it isn’t exactly all of our faults. It is only some of our faults. Perhaps not so shockingly in the end, it turns out that exactly the same way to make the most money, is also the way to attract the most attention, the most of the time, in this on-screen world of ours. This is, I suppose, just the way things go. It is our extreme misfortune that the way things have unfolded is that the pertinent illustration of freedom should have been a person whose particular weaknesses seemed well nigh unfathomable. And yet, PDT’s abysmal voids called forth all the mendacity, hypocrisy, self-interested sell-your-country out money-grubbiness, not to mention all manner of sexual irregularities if not downright horrors, which come to think of it are well in evidence on both sides. These are not my people. Where do we find these people? Hat tip to dearime who commented that when his friends tell him that their child is going into politics, it is as if they had told him they are going into crime.
