Joe Biden’s border crisis is getting worse – Washington Times

The border crisis is worsening, undercutting President Biden s early assurances that the chaos along the U.S.-Mexico boundary was just a seasonal blip.

The Border Patrol reported the most action in 21 years in June. Agents recorded 178,416 arrests, defying Homeland Security officials public predictions that activity at the border would cool off in the summer.

Perhaps more worrying is the surge of illegal immigrant children, which came roaring back after a lull in the late spring. The government last week caught minors at the border faster than it could release them from government-run shelters. The Border Patrol had more than 1,400 in its custody as of Sunday night, the highest number in nearly three months.

I heard on the radio that this year it is expected there will be as many as 2 million illegal immigrants. That might be a little high. But those are the ones BP is catching. All of those that are caught are basically released into the population under the current (to use the colloquial) catch-and-release rules. A quick search on duckduckgo gives me no answer on what the ratio of caught to not-caught is estimated to be with respect to illegal immigrants; so let’s call it 50/50, though it must be much higher. So, what, about 4 million this year alone? And Biden will probably veto any Congressional attempt to tighten the border, should such an unlikely event occur. Not to go all pessimistic on y’all, but it looks like the battle to preserve the American electorate is already lost. But this is just a guesstimate. Still just guessing, but it looks to me like this portends what you could call the Latin Americanization of US politics. Unless of course, you install pretty rigorous voter ID, which conceivably could work for a while. Politics is such an ugly business. It’s too bad that so much of value depends on it.
