Whatever defense Cuomo thought this would provide, it s not working. It didn t take long for leading members of Cuomo s own party to line up on the side of the accusers. Both of New York s Senate Democrats have demanded Cuomo s resignation, as has New York City mayor Bill de Blasio:

I for one will view Gov. Cuomo’s metooitude with some regret. He served as the perfect example, a sort of Platonic ideal, of the political slime ball in all its glory. I’ll miss ya, Andrew.

Somebody should invent a pretentious term for this being-ejected-from-public-life-for-sexual-improprieties thing. Do they do it in Germany, or is it just an Anglophone phenomenon?
