Update on Luke and Anya

I have heard from a number of you concerning the welfare of my son, Luke, and his Ukrainian wife, Anya. They were married just a few months ago and have been visiting her parents in Kyiv.  But with the growing danger of the situation, Luke and Anya left Kyiv for Sweden, where Anya is finishing her PhD in History. They are currently in Athens, vacationing but mostly, I’m sure, watching the appalling news of Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. Thanks to all of you who have inquired about their wellbeing. They are as good as they can be. I’m sure all of us wish the best to the Anya’s parents, whether they decide to stay or to go, and to all of the Ukrainian people and their striving, however imperfectly, to govern themselves.
